Cold front drops almost an inch of rain in an hour!

As a cold front approaches from the west we are dealing with northerly winds. Thunderstorms and heavy rain hit the Great Falls area between 8 pm and 9 pm tonight dropping almost an inch of rain in an hour. Storm sewers were having trouble handling it all and water was flooding around the Fairgrounds at 3rd Street NW. The water was so deep it was lapping over the raised median and some cars were stalled out. City crews were out putting up barriers.

The rain tapered off by 9 pm and residents were greeted with a beautiful double rainbow. There is still a chance of seeing showers before midnight.

I better get to work and set up the weather for the Sunday broadcast. I hope you had an enjoyable weekend and are enjoying the temperatures dropping into the 50’s during the storm!

Double Rainbow Sunday night!
