Rainy conditions cause some high water.

Rain continues to fall this afternoon. We also have a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Enough rain has fallen that the National Weather Service has issued a Small Stream Flood Advisory until Tuesday. The full statement can be found below.  About .14″ of an inch fell before midnight in Great Falls while Helena had a quarter of an inch. It has continued to rain since midnight and we will have totals later today. This graphic from NOAA shows that we are in the bulls eye for heavier moisture!

Overnight showers and thunderstorms are still possible with a low of 42.

Tuesday partly cloudy with a few showers and a high of 67 with a low around 45.

Wednesday mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. High 65 with a low around 46.

Thursday mostly sunny and warmer with a high near 70 and a low of 48.

Friday sunny with a high in the upper 70’s.

Saturday mostly sunny to start the Labor Day long weekend. High near 82 with a low of 51.

Sunday mostly cloudy with a slight risk of showers and thunderstorms. High near 77.

I hope you have a great day!

...THE SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON MDT
TUESDAY FOR NORTH CENTRAL...CENTRAL...AND SOUTHWEST MONTANA EAST OF
 THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE...

AT 1228 PM MDT MONDAY...STREAMS ACROSS CENTRAL MONTANA WERE REPORTED
TO BE RUNNING HIGH. WIDESPREAD LIGHT PRECIPITATION HAS
OCCURRED...AND IS OCCURRING...AS WELL ELSEWHERE ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL
AND SOUTHWEST MONTANA EAST OF THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE.
THEREFORE...OTHER STREAMS ACROSS THE AREA ARE EXPECTED TO BE RISING
OR RUNNING HIGH AS WELL. IN ADDITION...ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE
POSSIBLE ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS
EVENING...AND THESE STORMS MAY PRODUCE BRIEF HEAVY RAINFALL...WHICH
MAY CAUSE CREEKS AND STREAMS TO RISE FURTHER.

 PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS ON
SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...AND PONDING OF WATER IN URBAN AREAS...
HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER POOR DRAINAGE
 AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.

A FLOOD ADVISORY MEANS RIVER OR STREAM FLOWS ARE ELEVATED OR PONDING
OF WATER IN URBAN OR OTHER AREAS IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.

TO REPORT FLOODING...HAVE THE NEAREST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY RELAY
YOUR REPORT TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST OFFICE.
