NWS statement on cooling during holiday weekend.

A COLD AND MOIST WEATHER SYSTEM IS FORECAST TO MOVE THROUGH
WESTERN AND CENTRAL MONTANA SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY. IT WILL BRING
MUCH COOLER TEMPERATURES BY LABOR DAY.

HIGHS LABOR DAY MIGHT ONLY BE IN THE 50S AND POSSIBLY COULD BE A LITTLE COOLER. ALSO SNOW
LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO FALL TO BETWEEN 6500 AND 7500 FEET SUNDAY
NIGHT AND BE BETWEEN 7000 AND 8000 FEET ON MONDAY.

THERE IS QUITE A BIT OF UNCERTAINTY ON HOW FAST THIS SYSTEM WILL MOVE THROUGH THE
AREA AND HOW MUCH MOISTURE WILL ACCOMPANY IT. THERE IS THE
POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW IN THE MOUNTAINS. THOSE PLANNING
OUTDOOR RECREATION THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR A
TRANSITION TO MUCH COOLER AND WETTER CONDITIONS LATER SUNDAY
THROUGH MONDAY WITH WINTRY CONDITIONS POSSIBLE FOR THE MOUNTAINS.
