A nice Labor Day after a record rainfall last night.

It  was nice to see the sun out today and a lot of people moving around. Either shopping or coming home early from the long three-day holiday. Although temperatures remained in the 60’s, below normal for this time of the year we did see some sunshine!

Last evening Great Falls set a new record for daily rainfall. A total of .81″. The previous record for September 5th was .54″ in 1911! Most of the rain fell when a strong line of thunderstorms stalled over Cascade county dropping plenty of rain and giving us a lot of lightning displays.

That rainfall puts us more than half and inch above normal for the month, which is less than a week old! For the year the rainfall we received yesterday pushed us almost 2.5″ above normal.

It looks like another Pacific weather system will add to our rain totals as we get closer to Thursday and Friday. Temperatures stay under normal but only by a few degrees most days.

I hope you had an enjoyable holiday weekend whatever you were able to do.
