Winter returns to Montana!

A quick-moving Alberta Clipper struck central and southwest Montana Tuesday. It began as rain last night, then very gusty winds and finally snowfall.

Snow totals ranged from 2″ to 12″. More in the higher elevations and a number of  trees blown down with power lines with our peak wind gust at 62 mph.

A big pileup involving semi tractors and trailers on I-15 between Wolf Creek and Helena. No serious injuries but the interstate had to be closed for a while as cleanup took place.

Here are two photos that showed driving conditions this afternoon on Rogers Pass and also MacDonald Pass. Drive and walk carefully!
