A frosty Friday! Freezing fog & snow.

I left the building last evening with unexpected light snow and fog and it has continued Friday during the day. It’s what is called a “busted forecast” when this happens. The features of the Rockies can change our weather in hours, which we have just witnessed!

A low cloud deck has spread across most of north central Montana, along with patchy fog and light snow. Due to the cloud cover, cold air and the sun angle being low in December we don’t expect much warming, especially with the stubborn fog sticking around.

Overnight we expect mostly cloudy skies, patchy freezing fog and some snow flurries. The low around 7.

Saturday mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow with freezing fog in the morning hours. High temperature in the mid teens.

Saturday night snow is likely with a 70% chance of moisture, mainly before midnight. Chilly northeast winds between 5 to 10 mph and a low of 10. About an inch is expected.

Sunday mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers and a high in the mid teens and a low of 4.

Monday partly sunny with some flurries and warmer with a high in the mid 20’s.

Tuesday partly sunny and a high near 32.

Wednesday mostly cloudy with some rain and snow showers. High in the mid 30’s so either form of moisture is possible.

Thursday partly sunny and a high near 40!

I hope you have a great day and drive safe. Off for the weekend and then a week of vacation before Christmas. If you notice a lack of blogs that is why!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
