Boy did the wind blow this weekend! Windy Tuesday too!

Northwest Energy is working to fix damage from the wind over the weekend. This crew is getting ready to replace a snapped utility pole. That was minor damage compared to other areas. Tracking back through the weekend in Great Falls it was very windy! Friday the peak gust was 49 mph at the airport, Saturday 56 mph and Sunday 53 mph! At our studios today the strong wind gust has been 29 mph and 55 degrees. This trend won’t last for ever as cooler weather and windy conditions will return to the state this week.

NWS Weather Story

Winds in excess of 100 mph in Choteau and other wind prone areas really had a field day this weekend.

I saw a snapped power pole on Fox Farm Road Sunday that the wind caused it to snap. About all that was holding it up were the wires on the top. This afternoon Northwestern Energy crews were busy digging a hole to put in a new pole.

Supporting the damaged pole.

I hope you survived the windy weekend and it is nice to see the warm temperatures get rid of most of the snow and ice! Now the car washes are a hard place to get easy access to…everyone has the same idea!!!
