Warm enough that the gophers are out!

Yesterday was the first day I personally saw a gopher, although it had been run over by a car. Other staff members have seen them running around this past weekend, a sure sign that spring is not far away.  In fact this is the last week that we will be on Standard time. Daylight Saving Time beings at 2 am this coming Sunday morning, so we will be setting our clocks ahead 1 hour!

Then exactly one week later the official arrival of  Spring at 5:21 pm on Sunday.

The warmer weather is welcome especially if it cools off during the night to gradually melt the snow. We are all keeping our eyes on streams, creeks and rivers. Too warm too fast could mean trouble for ice jams and flooding.

Enjoy the warmer weather while we have it. March can still be a month of heavy wet snow for Montana!

P/S – Gophers are actually Richardson Ground Squirrels, but most of us call them gophers.
