The grass is turning green, but may turn white!

A potential spring storm with heavy wet snow is headed toward Montana, however it looks like the heaviest moisture will be in southern Montana and also the southwest mountains. If you are traveling in that direction please pay attention to our forecasts.

NWS Weather Story

I spent an hour at the National Weather Service early this afternoon sitting in on the briefing for the latest spring storm, that could contain some heavy wet snow. Models are predicting southern Montana and Wyoming to get hit the hardest. Great Falls stands a chance for snow the next 48 hours but accumulations don’t look very impressive.

Some areas could see a foot or two of heavy wet snow, the type of snow that brings down trees and power lines and also is hard on vulnerable young livestock, but again that is mainly in the southern areas of the state.

The storm passes quickly and by this weekend it looks like we can be outdoors doing some yard work if the grass isn’t too wet from Thursday and Friday!

Have a great day!
