A warm welcome as summer arrives!

With warmer weather on the way, high water is still a big concern in parts of the state as there is plenty of snow in the mountains yet to come out. Any heavy showers could only aggravate the situation!

NWS Weather Story

Let’s hope for the right combination of conditions to let the snow melt slowly and stream and river flows stay manageable as we move into summer.

Summer began this morning between 11 and 11:30 am and it sure feels like summer outdoors today. Even warmer conditions are expected later in the week.

The mosquitoes, well they speak for themselves. Our odd and wet winter and spring has certainly made perfect breeding grounds for them. I suspect the repellent is flying off the shelves at most stores. I bought one can and maybe will need a couple more if this keeps up!

A statement from the National Weather Service today is concerned about the chance of thunderstorms Thursday:

CONDITIONS LOOK TO BE FAVORABLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF NUMEROUS
THUNDERSTORMS THURSDAY, WITH SOME POSSIBLY BEING SEVERE IN NATURE.
WITH THIS POSSIBILITY, THERE ARE SEVERAL ISSUES TO BE AWARE OF:

* SOME STORMS MAY BRING HAIL, IN EXCESS OF 1 INCH IN DIAMETER, AND
HIGH WINDS, IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.

* MOST LOCATIONS WILL RECEIVE LESS THAN A QUARTER INCH OF RAINFALL.
HOWEVER, SOME STORMS MAY PRODUCE LOCALLY BRIEF HEAVY RAIN WITH
RATES NEAR AN INCH IN LESS THAN AN HOUR. THIS MAY RENEW FLOODING
  CONCERNS IN SOME LOCATIONS.

* TEMPERATURES LOOK TO BE QUITE WARM WITH HIGHS IN THE MID 70S TO MID
80'S WITH RELATIVE HUMIDITY INCREASING THROUGHOUT THE DAY. WITH WARM
HIGH TEMPERATURES, INCREASED MOUNTAIN SNOW MELT WILL BE LIKELY.

I hope you have a great day and can get out to enjoy some of our warm weather!
